In Defence of Sir John A.

by Perry D Foster
Sir John A. MacDonald, the architect of Confederation and father of Canada, has suffered greatly in the last few years. His statues have been toppled and beheaded, and his image has been covered in red paint, a symbolic gesture indicating that he was responsible for the genocide of aboriginal peoples. Schools named after him have been re-named. All of this sad display is part of a general effort to rewrite history. The traditional heroes of North America like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson and Wilfred Laurier have all received the same treatment. Even Winston Churchill, the man who saved […]

What is Woke Culture?

by Perry D Foster
First there was political correctness. Now there’s “woke” culture. For the last 20 or 30 years these two influences have damaged and weakened the foundations of western culture and removed our freedoms. The most common statement I hear regarding “wokeness” is “I can’t believe this exists. What’s going on?” People are stunned by the speed and efficiency with which our Judeo Christian culture has been attacked and it values inverted. They are shocked and terrified to find themselves moral and cultural refugees in a world where decent values have been reversed and repugnant practices have become the norm. How did […]

The Checklist is Killing Us

by Perry D Foster
There’s a liberal progressive “checklist” out there and it’s killing us. What do I mean by that? I mean that the far left is not just suggesting that we accept their ideas but bullying us into accepting them. They’ve got a checklist. Either you accept their ideas or you’re done. If you don’t you’ll suffer. And that could mean anything from being criminally charged for “hate speech” to fines, job loss, and public shaming that could end your life as you know it. Does that sound fair, or democratic? No? Well that’s because it’s not.  So What’s on the List? […]

Confessions of an Atheist Buddhist Communist

by Perry D Foster
When I was a child my father developed an interest in Buddhism. It was the late 60s, so it wasn’t so unusual. In those days you were regular society or counter culture. My father chose counter culture. So, for about a decade, I lived in my father’s world. It was, to say the least,  an unusual one. Along with Buddhism he decided to become a communist. As a result, I grew up as an ABC: an Atheist, Buddhist, Communist. What did that mean for me, and why am I now a dedicated conservative? Good question. To answer them we […]

One Size Fits All

by Perry D Foster
The other day I was outside a Mall in my home town of Duncan, B.C. From where I was standing I could see all the usual stores: a Staples, a Sports Chek, a Winners, and a Source. Suddenly I got the strangest feeling. I could have been anywhere. It didn’t have to be Duncan. It could have been Boise Idaho, Peoria Illinois, or Thunder Bay Ontario. Why? Because there wasn’t anything distinctive about what I was seeing. It was soulless. It didn’t have a personality. No culture, no grace, no charm no soul. It might as well have been […]

Laurier Must Remain!

There comes a time when a nation must make a decision about its past. That statement may surprise you. You may have thought that I was going to say that it would need to make a decision about its future. But these days, the past is in as much peril as the future. Around the world governments and power brokers are attempting to rewrite history, and nowhere is this more true than in Canada. For the past couple of decades a concerted attempt has been made to rewrite our history and eradicate our traditional narrative. Social Justice War  There’s no […]
