“The Narrative. Part 1.”

by admin
One of the reasons we conservatives feel so besieged these days is because of something called “The Narrative.” It was clever, well thought out, beautifully executed, and undeniably evil, and it has damaged our society tremendously. It is an important reason why everything seems so “upside down” in the western world and so dysfunctional. We in the West are going through a difficult period. It’s undeniable. If we want to win the struggle for values, and I am sure that we eventually will, we need to know how we got here, and how best to defeat the forces arrayed against […]

Snake Oil Salesmen

by admin
Long ago, many years before any of us were born, itinerant frontier salesman went from settlement to settlement in covered wagons. Out of the backs of these wagons they sold a wonder medicine known as “snake oil.” It was supposed to be a cure all for everything. As our medical knowledge grew we realized they were frauds and  thought that they would naturally go away, discredited by modern science. Now, to our collective astonishment, they are back. The only difference is that their name has changed. Today they are called “liberal progressives,” but they are still promising us cure alls. […]

The New Blue Laws

by admin
When Oliver Cromwell became the Lord Protector of England he instituted a series of laws designed to guarantee the purity of his theocracy. It wasn’t enough that he had banished the monarchy and executed Charles I. He had to control the thoughts and actions of Englishmen as well. Called the “Blue Laws” they were designed to enforce his strictly puritanical view of what English life should be. Absolute power corrupted absolutely Fresh from his victory in the English civil war, he had the power to enforce virtually any law he wanted to, and so the Blue Laws were pushed through. As […]

Proudly Canadian

by admin
I lived overseas for almost a decade. During that time I was frequently mistaken for an American and often had to correct people, telling them that, in fact, I was Canadian. I was living in an Asian country, so the assumption that I was American was probably natural. But it got me thinking. A Sense of Irritation First, why did it irritate me so much? America is a much larger country, and  more powerful. It would probably be the first country that would come to mind if someone heard me speak. Canada only has one tenth of America’s population. If […]

Bill C-16. Waking up to a New World.

by admin
Betty Unger, a senator from Alberta, recently wrote an excellent letter commending Bruce Pardy for his June 19th article in the National Post entitled “Bill C-16: Human Rights have Become a Zero Sum Game.” Her letter was published in the June 21st edition of that same National Post. What this means, first, is that the nation may indeed be waking up “post facto” to what the government has done to us. A New Awareness  It’s good news. Although C-16 has technically passed, it means that many Canadians are starting to become aware that something important has happened, and that their […]

Why We Fight

by admin
My apologies to Frank Capra, the famous Hollywood director, for appropriating the name of his World War II epic “Why We Fight.” It was brilliant, and explained, in great detail, why the Allies had to fight and defeat Nazi Germany. I wouldn’t have used it except that it perfectly identifies what we are up against, and why we, like the World War II generation, must commit ourselves to victory just as they did. Evil is Afoot There is an evil afoot. Like all evils it is dishonest and covert, living in the dark corners of the legal and moral realms, […]
